There is no Darkness in God

Are you wrestling with shadows of doubt, pain, or confusion in your life?

The profound declaration “There is no darkness in God” offers a beacon of hope in life’s darkest moments.

As we explore 1 John 1 vs 5 together in this sermon, you will understand the true nature of God your Father, and all uncertainties will be unearthed.

Jesus is the Word of Life, he’s the express image of the Father and that’s what he came on earth to do, to reveal the true Character of God to us.

Now, there is no doubt that we have eternal life, we have fellowship with the FATHER, and our union with him is forever.

To this, we continually rejoice for God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ – 2 Corinthians 4 vs 6.

FATHER OF LIGHTS

Did you know that the scriptures call us “lights”?  Let’ see me scriptures below:

Matthew 5 vs 14: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Matthew 5 vs 16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

1 Thessalonians 5 vs 5: Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Philippians 2 vs 15: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

Ephesians 5 vs 8: For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

The Gospel is light. Jesus himself is the Light.

Luke 1 vs 79: To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Joh 1 vs 4: In him was life and the life was the light of men.

John 1 vs 9: That was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

John 9 vs 5: As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

The scriptures above tell us who we are, what we have, and who Jesus is to us. The world sits in darkness but we have the light of Life.

James 1 vs 17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

What does “Father of light “mean, it means that God is light and we the children are also light.

While “variableness” means God doesn’t change or shift, God doesn’t waver, God is NOT UNSTABLE like man, and God doesn’t have an UNPREDICTABLE NATURE.

Read that again, YOU CAN PREDICT GOD, his character and nature are consistent with his WORD. Glory!!

“Shadow of turning” means alteration, change, or shifting.

In other words, we can read James 1 vs 17 like this:

Every good gift and perfect gift comes from the FATHER OF LIGHTS, he doesn’t change, there is no inconsistency in his nature, he’s reliable, and remains constant, unlike celestial bodies that cast shifting shadows.

Am sure you are shocked to read that “GOD IS PREDICTABLE”. Yeah, Faith is predictable, it is not in God’s nature to leave us in the dark.

Now we have established this, let’s now look at 1 John 1 vs 5.

THERE IS NO DARKNESS IN GOD

there is no darkness in God

We will take our bible text from 1 John 1 vs 5:

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

God is light, and in him is no darkness, what does it mean? It means that God doesn’t have a dual character.

The above scripture describes God’s character and nature as LIGHT.  So how can darkness and light dwell in the same place? Impossible!

God does not hate and love at the same time. He is called the Father of Light. In him is no darkness (not some darkness or small darkness).

When you read the book of James and 1 John, the writers had one big purpose in mind; which was to correct the view men had about God, that’s why God became a man to reveal himself to us and not through any third-party agent.

Jesus said, if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. (John 14 vs 6 – 11)

The true character and nature of God need to be known, understood, and believed.

John reveals that God is a Spirit. It means it will be quite difficult for us to know his nature and character with our natural senses. God is popularly perceived as the one behind good and evil.

God (the Father) is only perfectly revealed in his son, Jesus Christ. How God will do things on earth is how and what Jesus did when he came on earth.

Jesus said I came that you might have Life. What kind of life? Eternal life.

God does not have to kill, destroy, or put sickness on people to show his power instead He corrects us with his written word and does not bring EVIL UPON US.

His power was solely demonstrated in the death and resurrection of Christ on our behalf where he achieved for us forgiveness of sins and eternal life which justified us.
